A Touch of White

Recently while cleaning out an outbuilding we ran across this little step stool/chair that belonged to my MIL.  It was in horrible shape.  I'm sure she had placed it in the outbuilding with plans to 'fix' it later.  It was covered in rust, big chunky rust.  I sanded it the best I could, and spray painted it in heirloom white.  I absolutely love it.  It sits in the breakfast area at the home in South Ga.   (Please excuse the photography, I didn't have my camera and this photo was made with my IPhone and sorry for no before picture).  I was so excited to see what I could do with it I just started working on it and didn't think of a photo.  Do you remember these stools?

Please ignore the cord.  Like I said, no camera, and no "staging". :)

While we were having dinner that evening, my husband told me I should paint the little wire chicken white, too.
Here sits the chicken (thrift-store find) with it's metal color and brown eggs.

So yesterday, I carried her outside and painted her and several of her eggs heirloom white.  I kept a few of the eggs brown.  Isn't she pretty?

I'll be linking to several parties this week.

Mantel Mania

I have been unable to get my mantel decor like I want it.  I've changed it almost daily for the last week.

A while back it looked like this.

I like the height of the vases on the ends, but have never been crazy about the color.  They were a dark brown with a rough texture.

Today, I decided to "upgrade" them to a summery color.  I stopped at Lowe's on my way home from work and found a lovely shade in Valspar glossy spray paint called Mediterranean.  I think I like this color, even though I don't have anything else this color in the room, and if I decide I don't like it, it is easily remedied.  I might also remove the screen.  Just thinking...... we'll see how this changes and we all know it will.

Well, the blue vases lasted overnight.  Got up this morning and said Nope, not gonna work. So I whipped out a can of green paint and changed those babies to green.  Moved the arrangement to another spot and brought in the green basket with flowers.  Maybe...... maybe, I will let this sit here for a while.  I do like it better.

 Here is the latest:
So much lighter and brighter and it allows me to keep the firescreen out a while longer.  Love me some spray paint!!!!!

Closeup of the basket.  Found at consignment shop a while back.

Waiting for the paint to dry on the vases.  :)

Now changing out the mantel caused the customary chain reaction so the Bombay table and the dining room table got changed again.

I like this vignette on the Bombay table.

The cherub urn got moved to the dining room table.
The sideboard in the dining room.
This tray holds my collection of painted dishes.

When Life Gives You Lemons.........

Just decorate your table with them  :)

Today I am sharing a few items I found at Good Will and Consign and Design.  I think I spent around $13.00 for everything and found some really neat things.  I found 4 of these placemats with lemons for $4.00.  They are made really well.

Found a great decorating book for $1.50 at Good Will.

My visit to Good Will also allowed me to make a new vignette for my breakfast table.

I bought the tray for $1.91, the white tea pitcher for $ 2.92, and the little arrangement was also $2.92.
I think these makes a nice vignette used together.  I will probably paint the tray soon.  I already had the white bowl, rooster S/P shakers, and the lemons.

For a around 13 bucks my breakfast table got a whole new look and I'm lovin' it!!!

Isn't it all pretty together???  I think so.

I'll be partying with these ladies in the next few days.  Be sure to drop by for a visit with them.  You'll have a great time!

Floral Fire Screen & Coffee Table Vignette

While doing a little cleaning on Saturday, I changed a few things.  I added this fire screen to the hearth.  I purchased it several years ago at a consignment shop and have had it stored in a closet.  Decided it should come out of hiding for a while.  Love the look of it.
I ran across this little steel pot that my husband had.  He doesn't remember where it came from, but I think it's unique.  We don't know what its original use was but it makes a great container for a pot of ivy.

I refreshed the tray on my coffee table in the family room.  All these items were either from Kirkland's or thrift finds.

While I was in the process of moving things around, I edited the centerpiece on the dining room table.  This is the glass plate stand I found at Good Will for $4.99.

I will be joining in the party at A Stroll Thru Life

Sharing Vintage

Please join me in the party over at Debra's.  You'll find plenty of inspiration there.  Here are a few vintage items I've used in my decor.

I love these little vintage tables.  I found this one at an antique store and painted it white.  I really enjoy decorating it.
I'm not sure how old this bowl and ewer are, but it has a vintage look regardless of its age.
I think this little Limoge plate has a vintage look.  I bought it for $1.00 at a thrift store. The little dome was also a dollar.
These old chippy dishes belonged to my mother and my mother in law.  I know they are old.  The creamy color is so wonderful.  I remember eating off the white plate when I was little, and believe me, I'm vintage.  :)

Don't forget now, come over to Common Ground and join in the party!

Have a great weekend y'all!!!

Metal Love

Donna at Freckled Laundry is hosting a fabulous party on Saturday to showcase metal items used in decor.  I will be linking up to her party and know she would love for you to stop by for a visit.  Here are a few items in my home made of various metals, not so rustic, but I love the look they impart.

This is a vintage juicer previously owned by my MIL.  I believe it is steel.  I love the look of it next to my mother's yellow-ware bowl.
This is a hammered copper mother/daughter figurine purchased at Kirkland's.  A favorite of mine.

This vase is made from hammered copper as well, also from Kirkland's.  I love the turquoise color and use it in my guest room.

My current dining room center piece sits on a silver tray and is used with silver candlesticks from GW.  The silver tray was a gift a few years ago.

This piece was rusty, but I spray painted it with ORB.  It was bought at a consignment shop. It hangs on the screened porch.
A similar one spray painted green hangs in my guest bath room.

Here a metal can to which I applied the rooster joins in a vignette including old silverware in a pitcher.

This metal pail is from Michael's about 8 years ago.  It has a greenish tint.

This metal piece hangs inside the screened porch as well.  I spray painted it cream and mod podged the geraniums to it.

Here a white/rust metal pail holds roses and hydrangeas in the sun room.

This metal rack sits in the guest bath to hold extra towels.

This is a heavy gold colored cupid candle holder located in the guest room.
Here a little bird peeps through a metal wall ornament turned cloche.

These tall metal candle sticks fill a corner in the dining room.

I trust you have enjoyed this tour through my home to find metal objects.  I have quite a few and had not realized how many I had purchased.  Interesting!
