Table Tops at Shadymont

My daughter and I have a BUSY week this week with her Santa (Consignment) Sale.  The first group of consignors dropped off their wares tonight.  Wish all of you could come and shop.  You would not believe the pottery, small appliances, many still in the box, comforters, Coach purses, all kinds of other purses.  Forty vendors brought items already.  At least that many are expected to bring theirs tomorrow night.  Bring on the shoppers!!

Today I will share a few more photos of this year's Christmas decor.  Hope you enjoy!

I'm keeping the dining room table clean and simple.

Side Table, also in the dining room.  Below is the Snow Man Family, all dressed up for Christmas.

Mr. and Mrs. Snow Man
This sits on the coffee table, but I've already removed the red place mats.

This Nativity sits on a runner I bought at consignment.  The Nativity itself was still in the box found under the bed at my late Mother-in-Law's home.

A couple of Santa's I've had for a very long time.  The pencil Santa is actually a candle.
 Thanks for stopping by.
Come and join me at Marty's for Table Top Tuesday.
Thanks for hosting Marty!

Sharing Christmas at Shadymont

Whew!!! I am through decorating for Christmas.  I am TIRED!!! Yesterday and today was spent removing the autumn decor and arranging and rearranging the Christmas decor.  I've tried to remind myself that anything I put out has to be put away in a month, so I'm trying to keep it fairly simple.

I started with the mantel.  It holds lighted garland with white and gold ribbon, butterflies and cherubs.  I also made my first coffee filter wreath and hung it above the mantel.  The next one I do will be better hopefully.

Next I brought up the small Christmas tree I bought last year.  This year I used silver, white, and red.  I love the little roses I added to get more red accents.

I'll share more in the next few days.  Hope you are enjoying the season.  Can't wait to see what you've done so far.

Santa Sale

Wish all of you could attend the Santa Sale on December 2 and 3.  My daughter came up with the idea to hold a consignment sale where folks could bring toys, winter clothing, home decor, and gift-type items and sell them.  She has 71 sellers to date, and has another week before the sale.  I've taken off work on the 2nd so I can help her with it.  She will get a percentage of everything sold, and will donate a good portion of it to a charity in our community that helps folks less fortunate than we are.  She's had an overwhelming response and we are so excited.  It's a lot of work, especially for her, but she has participated in these type of sales before as a seller, and loved it.  She will have some gift cards to give away to sellers who sign up to work a shift.  She has a schedule set up for sellers to make an appointment to drop off their items.  She's so organized, it's unbelievable!  She even set up a webpage so that sellers can enter their items, and the information about the item, she then takes that information and e-mails price tags back to the seller so they can tag their items prior to drop-off.  Saturday afternoon everything that is left is 1/2 price.  Then anything that isn't picked up on Sunday is donated to the same charity for their thrift store.  Doesn't this sound like fun!!!  For anyone reading this in North Georgia, the sale will be at the Old Clarkesville Mill just North of Clarkesville, on 441.  I'd love to meet some of you, so if you happen to be in the area, do come by.

I've been gathering things together for the sale.  My husband says that I'll later need/want the items I'm selling for my decor projects.  I don't think so.  I'll be glad to get some 'stuff' out of the house.  That makes room for me to buy more!  :0)

I made a few photos of some of the items I'm taking.  This is just a little of what I plan to take.  I have a bunch of things I have set aside in the basement to take.  I hope to get those items tagged tomorrow afternoon.

Queen size Duvet Cover, Never Used, $15.00

What do you think?  Does this sound like fun or what???

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

Decorating Slump

I have absolutely had the hardest time deciding on how to decorate the dining room table for Thanksgiving.  I am not satisfied with anything I've done.  I'll show you the latest in a long string of 'tries'.

Anyway, this is the latest try.  I bought six of these chargers at Dollar Tree, at $1 each.

I layered with this dinner plate and salad plate purchased from Wal Mart several years ago.
I stopped there.  No decision yet on silver, glassware, or placemats/napkins.
I have the drop cloth/burlap runner I made last week on the table.
I brought out this lovely cake stand bought at Good Will for $4.99.  It is centered on the runner.  I like the contrast between the leaded glass and the runner.

I placed the arrangement I made a few weeks ago on top of the cake stand.
I added the two white candle sticks with white candles, leaf garlands, 2 small ceramic pumpkins around the cake pedestal, and stopped. I have to decide on the other items.  At least the chargers and plates can go through Christmas.
Do you ever have that problem when you are just not happy with what you've done?  It's so aggravating.  I think I'm just in a slump. :(

Linking up to Tabletop Tuesday at Marty's.

FINALLY:  (11/15/11)

I've finally done a little more to my dining room table.  Still no flatware or stemware, but that will be figured out soon.  I'm thinking I will pick up some new glasses and flatware....maybe.

Anyway, I tweaked everything a little and it's looking better.  I added the napkins with silver napkin rings, removed 2 of the garlands, and it's definitely coming together better.

  Mo' betta!!

Drop Cloth Runner with Burlap Ribbon Ruffle

As we all know, drop cloth and burlap are favorites in blog land.  I had an idea this morning of a way to use these fabrics in a new runner.  First I took the drop cloth I used for a table cloth last year out of the hutch, and gathered my other materials together.

Burlap Ribbon bought at Michael's.
Next, I doubled the drop cloth lengthwise, measured about 15 inches in from the end, and laid the yard stick across it for a straight edge.  I cut the 15 inch section off the drop cloth.  Now I only have one edge to hem.

Next I hemmed the raw edge.  Then I measured about 44 inches of the burlap ribbon and cut it in half, about 22 inches for each of the ruffles.  You may notice that I sewed the burlap on the top of the drop cloth.  This was just my preference, no other reason.  I had thought I might also sew some trim on it, but decided against that. I just sewed slowly, gathering the burlap as I sewed across. Total cost of this project.....zero.  I had everything on hand already!  My kind of project!

I'm going to rub a stain pen across the white thread you see in this picture so it won't show where I hemmed the edge of the burlap ribbon.
Once the sewing was complete, it was time to iron the drop cloth portion which I did with a damp rag between the iron and the fabric.  This really took out all the wrinkles in the drop cloth.

All that's left now is to put it on the table and decorate the table for Thanksgiving.

This photo shows the table protector pad on the table.

Protective pad still on the table.
Here I had removed the protective pad.  Isn't the wood beautiful?  Notice the inlay on the sides.
Changed the side table.
The dining room table is not final.  I am trying to decide what I want to put on the runner.  It will be alright for a few days.  I'll show you what the final table looks like once I've decided.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!!!
