A Few Subtle Holiday Touches

I've placed a few subtle touches of Christmas around the house and am sharing them with you today.

If you are a follower, you know that I'm teaching myself to paint.  I had this canvas that I had painted that looked horrible, so Saturday night I gessoed the entire thing so I could paint over it.  I left it to dry overnight, and had no idea what I would paint on it.  I went down to my little basement craft area yesterday afternoon, and began painting.  First I laid down a green and antique white (blended) background.  Once that dried, I took some cardboard letters I had and tried to spell out " Merry Christmas" with them.  I was missing letters, so I looked for a word that I did have all the letters for, and came up with 'noel'.  I hot glued them to the canvas. and began painting.  I placed a bunch of holly and berries in the corner underneath 'noel'.  Then I painted 2 ornaments on, and then I added the tree limbs to the painting.

Here is the final product.

This is free-hand, so not perfect in any way!  :)

A few other touches were added around the house.

Like this,

I found this wood angel at the consignment shop on Saturday, as well as the ribbon.  I got a roll of this white ribbon and a roll of gold for $2.00.

I tied a piece of the same ribbon around this faux orchid and placed it in the sun room on a wicker side table.  I love it next to this olden lamp.

In the master bedroom, I added two golden wire topiary trees I've had for about 15 years.

I tied a piece of the gold ribbon around the center of this tree.

I'm enjoying having these festive touches throughout the house, without going all out yet.

I'll be sharing at these lovely parties:
