Two Thrifty Finds

My husband and I went to one of my favorite consignment shops the other day, and I found a couple of items that I really did not need(ed).  One was a runner!  Surprise, surprise!  Y'all know I hoard runners!  I bet I have 20 or 30!!  Maybe I should do a post on all of them.  (idea).

I switched out the aqua runner I had been using in the sun room, and replaced it with the new one.  Love the design and colors.

I like the romantic design.  I have lots of pink and green in this room, so I'll use this in here for a while.

The runner below is the one I swapped out.  It is now in the dining room.  The two runners are somewhat similar in design with both having scalloped edges.

(My other treasure) I was on the lookout for a clock like some I've been seeing on the blogs.  I don't know yet if it works, nor do I care.  I wanted it to paint and display on my bookcase, so if it does work, that's a bonus.  I can't remember whose blog had this clock, but I fell in love with it, and I saw one almost immediately when we went in the store.  (Here it is with one coat of red paint).

The original color of the clock was a light oak.

The paint I used is a free Valspar sample.  This morning I put on the second coat of paint, but added a small amount of black acrylic paint to darken the color some.

Next, I distressed it just a little around the edges.

Had to restyle my bookcases to accomodate the non-working clock.  Maybe I'll get new works for it.

Do you have any recent thrifty finds to share?  I'd love to see them.
