Linens and Other Things

Today I was at Good Will when they opened and did I ever score!!  It was Sr. Discount Day, and I wanted to get in before everything was picked over.

Here are today's finds:

Six Vintage Jeanette Blue Hellenic Grecian Wedgwood 5 1/2" Glass Tumblers, total after discount, $4.45

Two vintage electrical insulators at $1.43 each.  I was surprised to find the glasses and the insulators.  Not something you usually find at GW.

I already had the turquoise insulator above.  My husband's father was an electrician and this is one he had.

This small picture is wood, and cost $.91.

Then I had another surprise when I found these shams that match the twin bed quilts I have at the lake house.

These were $2.72
You might remember I found a pair of shams a few weeks ago that match the quilt in the master at the lake house, and now these!  Can you believe it!!  I couldn't.

Here are more linens I've found recently at GW.

This quilt will be put on one of the twin beds at the lake so they are not the same. $6.00 at GW.

Twin bed skirt I found to use with it, $1.91.

A new (in the package) set of twin sheets, $4.64.

I have really been lucky recently, and can't wait to get back to the lake house to use these.

I'm still looking for a sham for the quilt, and am trying to be patient.  Maybe my next visit to GW will be the time I find it!!

Be sure to check out your Good Will for linens.

Revisiting the Sunroom

Of all my rooms, the sun room is probably my favorite.  I like the soft colors, and the outdoor views.  This room has a shabby cottage theme, with lots of birds and flowers.  You may remember my $6.00 makeover of this room.  If not, you can see it here.

I love the sunlight this room gets all morning.  It beams through the windows, making it a warm spot on cooler mornings.

We often have our morning coffee here. It's a great place to start the day.  The room sits between the master suite and the screened porch.

Vintage table from a local antique shop.

Closet bi-fold door leans against the wall. Display items  on the door, can be changed out seasonally.

The jelly cupboard holds my collection of pitchers.  A cluster of cloches hold birds in their nests, on top of the jelly cupboard.

Here, you can see my collection of rose plates above the windows.

This picture continues the birds theme.  It is dated 1983, and is an old Home Interiors picture.  I white washed the frame.

There's a spot for a small meal in here if we choose.  This crocheted table cloth was a great consignment find.  It covers the Wielunder tablecloth I found at a yard sale for $4.

The small metal tray is a Good Will find.  It works out perfect for this tray vignette.

This vintage table sits beside a wicker rocker.  The green jar is a fly trap we found on the lake property.  You've seen the magnolia print that a dear friend gave me when I retired.  I think of her when I see this picture.

More birds..... another GW find for $.50.

I recently moved an old bar stool into the corner, and using the blue and green bowl I found at Good Will, I did a cute arrangement by simply placing the tulip bouquet inside the bowl.

A very simple change with lots of impact.

I hope you enjoyed another peek into the sun room.

Blue Accents

Have you noticed that using blue in home decor is back in vogue?

Today, I'm sharing places where I have incorporated the color blue.

My favorite blue find was the hall tree, but this little vintage table was an equally good bargain at my favorite consignment shop.  It was only $29.

It's a perfect fit for this corner, and faces the front door, so I try to make it look welcoming.

The table holds several items in blue.  I was happy to find the blue/white doily.

My hall tree is often decked out in blue.

I've brought a round, blue braided rug into the family room, and we love it.

The bonus room, my retreat, has quite a bit of blue.

We favor
blue at the lake house as well.

This sweet blue table holds a TV in a guest room.

The living room suite is blue and white.

I love the pitcher I bought with its blue flowers.

This dark blue tray was a great find.

Blue hydrangeas are always a great accent.

As I look around, I realize, I have lots of blue in my home.  There are many ways to add a favorite color to your decor by tucking in small touches here and there.
